... Morgen sings so beautifully, with equal amounts of sweetness and strength, joy and sorrow — a voice with a lot of life in it! — Peter Eldridge

Morgen Stiegler vocalist

Vocalist Morgen Stiegler seeks moments of connection in her music. Having come to singing somewhat late in her musical life, which she started on the piano, she has dedicated the last dozen years to shaping her voice into a versatile instrument for building genuine musical relationships.

The album 'Reaching for the Moon' — a collaboration with guitarist Chris Buzzelli — seeks to honor the duo recordings of Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass and features the album’s four time Grammy-winning producer Jay Ashby (Nancy Wilson, Paquito D’Rivera) on trombone and Olman Piedra (Nomo, Patrizio Buanne) on percussion. Says Jamey Haddad: "Morgen Stiegler has a beautiful sound and approach to her music. 'Reaching for the Moon' is an understated collection of traditional and contemporary standards—no one is trying to sell a performance here, this recording is honest and to the point."

The album — as well as Morgen's performances feature a mixture of jazz standards, pop tunes and original compositions acknowledging influences from Carmen McRae to Norah Jones and Tori Amos. Morgen continues to perform regularly in duo settings and with her quartet in venues that have included New Orleans’ Snug Harbor, the Birdland in Hamburg, Rusty’s Jazz Café in Toledo, and Sunset Jazz Festival in Grand Rapids, Ohio.

Morgen has appeared with members of the New York Voices, the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, and Balawan. She has been accompanied by such fine sidemen as Klaus Mueller (Joan Osbourne), Roger Schupp (Chuck Berry), Jeff Halsey (Clark Terry), and Doug Neel (Aretha Franklin) to name a few. As a member of vocal ensembles she has shared the stage with blues legend Robert Lockwood Jr. and a cappella groups m-pact and Naturally 7 among others. She teaches applied jazz voice at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) where she is also an instructor for the Ethnomusicology department. For inquiries please contact: info@dissonantgrace.com
