Morgen's first performance was a piano recital at the age of six. These days performances feature her singing a mixture of jazz standards, pop tunes and her own originals, acknowledging influences that reach from the jazz greats Ella, Carmen, Nat and Louis to Tom Jobim by ways of Holly Cole and Norah Jones to Tori Amos an Jamie Cullum. However, considering she was raised on a farm in northwest Ohio, Morgen has been know to also break out into the occasional country tune. The record player of her childhood was laden with a diveristy of classical music, British pop, Crosby Steels Nash & Young - and yes - the Monkees, all of whom helped shape Morgen's musical ear.

Morgen performs regularly in duo settings (with guitar or piano) as well as with her trio and quartet (adding bass and drums) or even larger ensembles. Some of her favorite performance venues have included New Orleans’ Snug Harbor, das Schlot in Berlin, Birdland in Hamburg, Chios Casino in Cluj, Romania, Rusty’s Jazz Café in Toledo, and the beautiful setting of the Sunset Jazz Festival in Grand Rapids, Ohio.
